Congress Party leader in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday stated that the NDA government's faulty economic policy led to the plunge of rupee value against the dollar and added that the Centre is also telling lies about the country's GDP growth.

On his way to Bengaluru, he told media persons at Hubballi Airport on Saturday that the average GDP growth was 7.3% recently, and it suddenly jumped to 8.2% now, which was the average of GDP growth rate during 10 years of UPA regime.

"Agriculture growth rate has come down by 4% under UPA to 2% under NDA. This government is spoiling social harmony, and has no respect for the constitution and our democracy," he charged.

"UPA government controlled petrol and diesel prices even though the crude oil price was very high in the international market. But, NDA government increased petrol and diesel prices, though crude oil price is low, and it is badly affecting farmers as well. Rs 1.67 lakh crore collected as tax on petrol and diesel every year is being spent mindlessly on meaningless projects," Kharge noted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured to create two crore jobs every year, and not even 75 lakh jobs are created so far. This has affected not just youth, but also the entire economy, he lamented.

Congress has started 'Jan Sangharsh Yatra' from Kolhapur in Maharashtra, to tell Modi government's failures to people and to organisase the party. This programme would be held in six divisions in the country, he added.
