Paddy fields go underwater, rivers in spate in Kodagu

Incessant rain lashed across Napoklu, Suntikoppa and Virajpet on Tuesday.

The increase in water level has marooned Harishchandra temple at Palooru.

Kakkabbe, Nelaji, Ballamavati, Pulikotu, Ayyangeri experienced incessant rain till afternoon.

With water flooding the Napoklu-Murnadu stretch, all the vehicles travelled via Kumbaladalu and Hodavada.

Children were seen having fun in the floodwater on a road at Bolibane. The authorities had declared a holiday for schools in Napoklu and Kakkabbe cluster.

The power supply has been affected across Napoklu hobli.

The retaining wall of the Government PU College at Suntikoppa collapsed following heavy rain.

On the other hand, the rain took a break in Somwarpet. Farmers in the taluk were engaged in farming activities.

In Masagodu, the retaining wall of Doddayya collapsed. The toilet and bathroom of Venkatesh in Chowdlu collapsed. In Kumaralli, the tiles on the roof of a house belonging to Rathnamma fell due to strong winds. A house belonging to H B Somaiah partially collapsed at Hudikeri.

Keere hole is overflowing at Kirugooru Nalluru. Irpu waterfalls is full and it is attracting visitors.

Kuklooru, Kadanooru, Ontiyangady, Kakotu Parambu, Bittangala, Arji, Betoli, Ammathi, Kavadi and Bilugunda in Virajpet received heavy rain.

In the last 24 hours, Somwarpet received 138.2 mm of rainfall.
