Protest meeting against pvt TV channel anchor

Condemning the remarks made on Prophet Mohammed by a private TV channel anchor Ajith Hanumakkanavar, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Muslim Okkutta will conduct a protest meeting at Nehru Maidan on February 8 at 3 pm.

Addressing reporters in Mangaluru on Wednesday, K Ashraf, former mayor and federation president, said that the comments by the TV anchor have hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community. “Already, more than 800 cases have been registered against the anchor in various police stations of the state. Several FIRs have been registered in this connection and investigations are being held in various courts,” he said and added that the government should initiate stern action against the accused.

Various scholars such as S B Darimi and Yahyat Tanjal Muhammad Ali Salafi will address the gathering. Members from various Muslim associations will take part, said Ashraf.

Federation office-bearers Hyder Parthippadi, Muhammed Hanif Hazi, Mustafa M, Muhammed Kunhi, Siddik Talapady, Muhammed Ashraf Badriya, Muhammed Hanif U and Moidin Monu were present at the press meeting.
