Raje Gowda stresses on need for quality education

Sringeri MLA T D Raje Gowda felt the need to create awareness among children on cleanliness, literature and fine arts.

Speaking during the 43rd school day at Vivekananda Vidyasamsthe Composite High School in Shirivase, he said that quality education must comprise of the co-curricular activities such as sports and fine arts to make the future of the students bright.

He also called upon the students to take part in music and theatrical activities.

Congress leader B L Shankar said that mother tongue is the main channel for the accumulation of knowledge. He said that people are affected by the misnomer that without English, one cannot achieve anything.

KPCC general secretary M L Murthy said that the sole purpose of education is not money making but acquiring useful knowledge.

He also felt that educational institutions should provide a platform for students to bring out their talent. Parents too should support their children to pursue the subjects of their interest, he added.

Philanthropist Shrikant Shetty, AICC secretary B M Sandeep, retired teachers K Chandraiah, Shashikala, clerk Sadashiva Poojary and office assistant Puttaswamy were felicitated on the occasion.

Vivekananda Vidyasamsthe chairman B M Bhojegowda presided over the programme.

Honorary secretary S M Devanna Gowda distributed the prizes on the occasion.

Headmistress Anasuya Vishwanath, institution directors B A Shivashankar and B N Vishwanath were present among others.
