Last Updated 15 December 2018, 14:12 IST

Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy seeking to release Rs 1000 crore to take up rain relief work in Belthangady taluk.

In the memorandum, the legislator said that Belthangady taluk has received the highest rainfall in the state, resulting in loss of public property.

“Many have lost their shelter following the tempestuous rain. Many residents are deprived of basic facilities as the rain has wreaked havoc on them,” he said and added that all the district, Zilla Panchayat, PWD, state and national highways are in deplorable condition, and need to be repaired on a priority basis.

“Further, rain has damaged anganwadi centres, schools and colleges buildings, which need to be repaired urgently. To provide relief to the rain victims and to repair the roads and public properties, a sum of Rs 1,000 crore should be sanctioned by the government to the Belthangady Assembly constituency,” he demanded.
