Rs 50 crore for rain relief

The state government has released Rs 50 crore for rain relief, said District In-charge Minister U T Khader.

He took part in a meeting with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The minister said that the chief minister has directed the officials to release Rs 200 crore to the districts affected by the natural disaster and Rs 50 crore will be released to Dakshina Kannada. The chief minister has also assured of necessary help in future, as situation demands, the minister added.

Revenue Minister R V Deshpande and Kodagu District In-charge Minister Sa Ra Mahesh also took part in the meet.

Khader stated told a press meet that the District Congress Committee will provide necessary items to those affected by flood in Wayanad in Kerala. “The AICC General Secretary Venugopal has directed the District Congress to come up with timely help for the victims.”

He said that the Dakshina Kannada DC has been told to establish contact with the collector of Wayanad to extend the necessary assistance.

Kits containing food and clothing will be distributed to the flood-affected people. A control room has also been opened in the District Congress office, Khader added.
