
Mayadevi Galagali, District Social Welfare Department deputy director, and first division assistant K B Mohan were caught red-handed by sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday.
The deputy director had placed a demand for Rs 20,000 from a resident of Shaktinagar, Mekeri, to sanction a compensation amount of Rs four lakh, released by the government to the family in connection with an
atrocity case. The official had solicited a bribe in order to release the compensation amount.
The victim had recorded the conversation of Mayadevi and had submitted a complaint to the ACB. DySP Poornachandra Tejaswi and Inspector Shekhar caught Mayadevi Galagali red-handed as she was receiving bribe from the complainant on Thursday.
