In 1984, Sqn Ldr Rakesh Sharma  became the first Indian in space, aboard a Soviet spacecraft. When PM Indira  Gandhi asked Sharma, “How does Bharat look from space?”, Sharma replied,  “Saare Jahan Se Achha!”
