Of all the mobile-makers and social media firms in the technology industry, Google, Facebook, and some others are considered apathetic towards user privacy, but on the other hand, Apple is the complete opposite who values the security of customers' personal information as to its paramount responsibility. In 2016, It even rejected the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)'s request to unlock the iPhone of a terrorist in San Bernardino attack, though it was eventually cracked open with advanced spy tools.

Now, evidence has emerged that there are some sneaky iOS apps that have been found to be tracking user information for targeted ads on Apple iPhones, The Washington Post reported citing an investigation carried out by the reporter- Geoffrey Fowler on his iPhone.

During the investigation, Fowler found apps such as Microsoft OneDrive, Intuit's Mint, Nike, Spotify, IBM's The Weather Channel and even his own company app--The Washington Post' was sending information, but not personal details.

However, one app crime-alert service Citizen was reportedly sending identifiable personal details such as email ID, phone numbers and even location coordinates, which is not only against its own privacy policy but also Apple, as well.

Upon on report making headlines, Apple said that the company's hardware and software are designed to offer advanced security and privacy at every level of the system.

Other app developers have revealed that the information used is very harmless and is only for improving the services and user-experience of the users.

On the other hand, Citizen has acknowledged the issue and said the information is secure and are not sold to any third party ad companies. It also assured this won't recur again and removed the Amplitude tracker from its app.
