Memorable melodies of 'Rebel Star' Ambareesh

Veteran Sandalwood actor and politician M H Ambareesh passed away on Saturday night at a private hospital in Bengaluru.

In a career spanning over 50 years, Ambareesh has acted in over 200 films. Ambareesh was fondly called as ‘Mandyada Gandu’ (Man of Mandya) as he hails from Mandya district. He also acted in a film with the same name.

Ambareesh had also bagged a national award for his debut film Naagarahaavu in 1972 and created a mark with his character 'Jaleela' from the movie.

He got the title 'Rebel star' especially after his film Chakravyuha, in which he played the role of a top cop 'Amarnath'.

Some of his hit films are Odahuttidavaru, Masanada Hoovu, Antha, Paduvaraalli Pandavaru,Shubhamangala, Masanada Hoovu, Ranganayaki, Olavina Udugore, Chakravyuha, Barjari Bete, Odahuttidavaru.

His last film was 'Ambi Ning Vayassaytho', released in 2018. He has won several state government film awards and was bestowed with the honorary doctorate by the Dharwad University.
