Last Updated 18 February 2021, 11:07 IST

Lately, Microsoft, in a bid to improve user experience, has been on a roll bringing new features to the Edge browser. Some include 24 new themes, sleeping tabs, and improvements to the performance in terms of faster loading of web pages through memory and CPU resource management.

Now, the Redmond-based company has announced a new Kids Mode for its Edge browser.

"Kids Mode is a convenient browsing mode inside Microsoft Edge that’s designed for kids. With its kid-friendly features and safety guardrails in place, Kids Mode is a great place for children to safely explore the web," Microsoft said.

Kids Mode doesn't require a child account or profile. But, parents can set the age range 5-to-8 and age 9 or older.

Kids mode promises secure custom browser themes. The search results will be filtered to show only kid-friendly content, as browsing is based on an allow list and Bing SafeSearch set to strict.

Users will be asked for the password to exit the session and this will allow other users of the PC to unrestricted content.

Here's how to enable Kids Mode on Microsoft Edge:

Step 1: Go to the profile icon in the top left corner and tap Browse in Kids Mode.

It should be noted that the user need not be signed in to his/her profile to access this option. If you sign-in, it will allow the Kids Mode settings to sync across all the companion devices.

Step 2: Choose the appropriate age from the options -- '5-8 years' and '9 and older'. after selection, Kids Mode will open in full screen.
