DAC road races in Gadag, Chikkaballapur

The annual KA Nettakallappa Memorial Road Races, sponsored by Deccan Herald and Prajavani and organised by the Deccan Athletic Club, will be held in Gadag and Chikkaballapur this year.

Gadag will host the races on June 11 while in Chikkaballapur, it will be conducted on June 25. The races will be held in four categories — men, women, under-16 boys and girls.

The races are open to athletes across Karnataka and there will be no entry fee. Accomodation will be free for outstation runners.

Entries, with proof of date of birth for the age-group categories, may be sent to Anantharaju, Organising Secretary, Deccan Athletic Club, Pragathi, No: 39/137, 1st ‘D’ Cross, 6th main, REMCO Layout, Vijayanagar, Bengaluru -- 560040.

The last date for registeration for the races in Gadag is on June 8 and for Chikkaballapur on June 22.
For men’s and women’s races, there will be prize money up to 10th place with the top three getting Rs 5,000, Rs 3,500 and Rs 2,500 respectively.

For the U-16 boys and girls, the winners will receive a prize money of Rs 1,500 each, while the second and third place finishers will get Rs 1,000 and Rs 750 respectively.
