Top-seeded Gahan defeated Yashas D in 25 moves in an opening arising out of Alpin variation and Antonio overcame Sharan Rao in the 35th move to move to the top of the table after five rounds of matches.

In the girls section, Vanessa D’Souza, Swathi Bhat of Mangalore and Pavithra Jagtap of Bangalore are at 3.5 points each against their names to take three-way lead after four rounds.
