The Invader wins Bangalore Derby

Ace Indian jockey P Trevor knew exactly when to pull the trigger as he piloted The Invader to a superb victory in the Catalyst Properties Bangalore Derby here on Saturday.

Staying behind the bunch and preserving energy nicely for the final thrust in the 2400-metre long race, Trevor let The Invader loose in the final 200 metres to emerge triumphant.

It looked like pre-race favourite Isn’t She Lovely (David Allan astride) would claim the spoils in the blue riband meeting of the Winter Season when she broke free from the bunch after the final turn.

But Trevor pulled off the master stroke with 300 metres left when he whipped The Invader strongly to gain the lead over the next 100 metres.

Steaming ahead, The Invader was then uncatchable as she galloped home ahead of Isn’t She Lovely for victory.
