Last Updated 24 June 2015, 17:18 IST

Former India cricketers Venkatesh Prasad and Sujith Somasundar have joined hands to launch a cricket academy -- Starting Line Sports -- which will begin from July 1st at Indiranagar I Stage.

The initiative aims to focus on coaching and developing youth at the grass root as well as elite level and caters to trainees aged between six and 21 years.

Somasundar, a former opening batsman, will be the Chief Resident Coach while Prasad, a former paceman of repute, will be coaching on a regular basis.

“I see a lot of talent around and not everyone will be lucky to get the excellent facilities and coaching that are provided by the State and the National Cricket Academies. We wish to bridge that gap by providing the best of infrastructure along with high performance coaching methodologies to the whole lot of aspiring cricketers,” said Prasad.

Somasundar, besides being a certified cricket coach, is also a certified Mental Toughness/Life Coach.

The academy presently will run an annual camp  2 groups -- full annual camp (7 days a week, 1 session per day, 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm) and annual weekend camp (2 sessions per week on weekends, 7.00 am to 9.00 am and 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm).
