Two supporters of Jewargi MLA Dr Ajay Singh tried to consume poison, on Saturday, in protest against the MLA not being inducted into the ministry during the Cabinet rejig.
Mujeem Jewargi (K) who consumed poison at Jewargi was immediately admitted to the government hospital for treatment. He is recuperating after treatment. Sharabhu Kalyani of Nelogi village tried to consume poison near Sonna Cross on the Humnabad-Hubballi National Highway.
But the police who were at the spot foiled his attempt. Singh’s supporters staged road blockades in Jewargi town, Sonna and Chigaralli Cross. Residents of Nelogi village too blocked the road.
