3D mapping, illumination at Krishnaraja Sagara

Mandya district administration has planned to make Srirangapatna Dasara a grand affair this year. It starts on Tuesday.

For the first time, it has planned 3D mapping and special illumination of Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam and Brindavan Gardens at a cost of Rs 2 crore, as part of Dasara celebrations.

All arrangements have been completed and the whole area is illuminated to attract more tourists.

The Cauvery Neeravari Nigam is organising the 3D mapping, which will showcase the history of the dam, right from construction, architecture and how it benefits the people.

Speaking to DH, Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Executive Engineer Basavarajegowda said, special efforts are being made to explain to visitors about the history and importance of the dam, using light, sound and 3D mapping.

“The mapping, cultural programmes and special illumination will be held for 10 days from October 16. While the programmes will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on week days, it will be up to 9 pm on weekends and holidays.

The cultural programmes will be held near the Cauvery statue and several television artistes will participate,” he said.

Dasara procession

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will inaugurate the Jamboo Savari, held as part of Srirangapatna Dasara, at Kiranguru Bannimantap, at 2.30 pm, on Tuesday.

Dasara elephants Abhimanyu, Kaveri and Varalakshmi will take part in the procession, accompanied by folk troupes. District in-charge minister C S Puttaraju and MLAs of the district will attend the event.

Film director T S Nagabharana will inaugurate the cultural programmes at 6.30 pm on the grounds opposite Sri Ranganthaswamy temple.
