After a break, rain resumes in Udupi

After a break, showers lashed many parts of Udupi district on Friday. The sky remained overcast throughout the day.

Rainwater gushed into a few houses in low-lying areas of Bannanje Layout, causing inconvenience to the residents.

Five electricity poles were uprooted and two transformers were damaged in the rain, said Mescom officials.

Karavali Junction, Manipal and Ambalpady roads were inundated. The intensity of rain increased by evening. With the rough sea, fishermen did not venture into the sea.

The sea erosion has intensified in Amavasyekaria in Hejamady on Friday. Several coconut trees have been washed away in the fury of the sea.
