Bicycle sharing service soon in D'gere

Signpost India Private Limited has bagged the tender to operate public bicycle sharing service under under Public Private Partnership model by the Davanagere Smart City.

The company will operate the cycle service for the period of 10 years. Davanagere would be the third city after Thane in Maharashtra, Naya Raipur in Chhattisgarh and the first city in India to enable electric bicycle along with self-cycling ones, on sharing basis using the Coo Rides mobile phone app, said the company in a statement.

"We are targeting to achieve at least 10,000 rides a month with the existing fleet strength of 200 bicycles, with network of 20 docking stations in this southern city. We expect close to 10,000 users to sign-up as members and contribute to lower carbon emission as responsible citizens," said Shripad Ashtekar, Managing Director, Signpost India.

The project to be operational by August, is enabled by ParXsys MoBliT Systems – the mobility technology arm of Signpost India using patented technology developed inhouse including hardware, software and mechanical design and development, the statement said.
