BJP top brass upset over 'Operation Kamala'

The party top brass is of the view that by wading into the crisis of the coalition government, the BJP state unit leaders have further strengthened the alliance between the JD(S) and the Congress.

Upset with BJP Karnataka unit leaders for their alleged role in ‘Operation Kamala,’ the party top brass have pulled up the state leaders.

With the BJP Karnataka unit getting a bad press for the past few days following the release of audio tapes by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on BJP leaders trying to lure Congress and JD(S) MLAs, the party leaders conveyed their unhappiness to the state leaders for mishandling the entire issue.

The party top brass is of the view that by wading into the crisis of the coalition government, the BJP state unit leaders have further strengthened the alliance between the JD(S) and the Congress.

“The crisis in the coalition government was visible every where. But the BJP leaders have further cemented their relationship,” said a leader from the BJP, adding that the entire episode had caused a huge embarrassment to the party at the national level.

The national leaders have no role in the ‘Operation Kamala’ and only the state-level leaders were involved, he said.

Now, with the entire issue boomeranging on the saffron party, it has dented the image of the state leaders, particularity state unit chief B S Yeddyurappa, he said.

With only three months left, the party top brass is also unhappy that the state unit leaders had not started preparations for the coming Lok Sabha polls.

The state leaders were told to work towards re-energising the booth-level committees, hold taluk and district workers’ meetings and seek the opinion of the grassroots-level workers on the selection of candidates, said the leader.
