Bose Raju, Saleem Ahmed appointed AICC secretaries

Karnataka Congress leaders N S Bose Raju and Saleem Ahmed were on Thursday appointed AICC secretaries in-charge of Telangana succeeding disgruntled leader Satish Jarkiholi, who had quit the post.

Besides Bose Raju and Ahmed, Kerala Congress leader Sreenivasan Krishnan was appointed AICC secretary in-charge of Telangana.

The three newly appointed leaders will assist R C Khuntia, the AICC in-charge of Telangana in reviving the party’s fortunes in the state that was carved out from Andhra Pradesh in 2014.

“The party appreciates the hard work and contribution of Satish Jarkiholi, who will be stepping down from his responsibility as secretary, AICC, of Telangana,” AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said in a statement here.

The Congress is in a direct fight with Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the southern state where it now hopes to come to power mainly on the sentiment that it was instrumental in carving out a separate state of Telangana.

The top priority for the new AICC team would be to quell dissent in the Telangana unit of the Congress which is up in arms against state president Uttam Kumar Reddy.
