In Mysore, Yeddyurappa, who launched the 12-digit identification programme based on biometric data, earned the distinction of being the first person in the state to be enrolled under it.
In Tumkur, Sri Sri Dr Shivakumar Swamigalu, born on April 1, 1908 and Syed Sadath Pasha born on November 15, 2009 were enrolled at a centre in Tumkur.Around 600 persons were enrolled in the programme today.
A total 450 work stations in Mysore and 400 at Tumkur would help people to enrol themselves to obtain UID number.The process of issuing UIDs in the remaining districts will begin from January 1, 2011, and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2011, a release said.
