Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday held a review meeting on the proposed six laning of Bengaluru-Mysuru road.

Principal Secretary (PWD), M R Kamble said the chief minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of work. “We appraised the chief minister about the survey work that has been undertaken by SEACON. Once the consultant gives us the survey report, we will start calling expression of interest for the project,” said Kamble.

According to officials, SEACON was scheduled to complete the survey in two months, but is likely to take longer.

On the other hand, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is yet to receive an official word from the government whether to consider Bengaluru-Mysuru road as national highway.

Sources in the NHAI state that the Union Ministry of Surface Transport has asked the State government to complete the survey of the road for expanding it to six lane and come back it for further approvals.

Public Works Minister H C Mahadevappa had earlier said the NHAI had given its approval for upgrading the stretch as NH 275. The six laning of the 123-km stretch is estimated to cost Rs 3,000 crore.
