Cong, JD(S) have no control over MLAs: BSY

State BJP president B S Yeddyurappa

State BJP president B S Yeddyurappa said the Congress and the JD(S) had no control over their legislators and hence, the two parties were making baseless charges against the party.

“Leaders of the Congress and the JD(S) have no control over their MLAs. They are, therefore, accusing the BJP of trying to destabilise the coalition government. It is high time the two coalition partners focus on the development of the state,” he told reporters.

Sources in the BJP said that a section of party leaders, including Yeddyurappa, was hoping that the factional feud in the Congress would bring down the government. Anticipating a threat to the coalition government, these leaders have drawn up a strategy to instal a BJP government.

Meanwhile, the state BJP has convened a meeting of all its MPs, legislators, office-bearers, district unit and morcha presidents in Bengaluru on September 19.

While the official take is that the meeting is to convey the proceedings of recent BJP National Executive meeting to state unit functionaries, it is also likely to discuss the political scenario in the state and also developments in the Congress. Around 450 party functionaries will be participating in the meeting scheduled to be held at Palace Grounds.
