Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has said that the Debt Relief Act would come into force in around 15 days.

Speaking during his campaign for JD(S) bypoll candidate L R Shivaramegowda in the taluk on Friday, the chief minister said that he was committed to rid farmers of all kinds of debts.

During canvassing in Maddur, the chief minister said that instead of putting pressure on the Centre for waiving farm loans extended by nationalised banks, the BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa was just shedding crocodile tears.

“The BJP leaders are misleading the people, saying that the coalition government has not taken off. They commented that the government’s budget was not for the state, but it was a Mandya budget. Now, they want the people of Mandya to support their party,” he said.
