The joint-topper in the state, Anmol V Chavan from National Public School, Rajajinagar, who has secured 98.2 per cent, says that his ambition is to secure an electronics or mechanical engineering seat at the IIT.

“I will continue in my school for XI and XII. The teachers, syllabus and the quality of preliminary exams are crucial factors,” he says. He attributes his success in the exams to regular work, with the bit of impetus at the time of exams. He adds that his family, and the support they gave him, was critical to this achievement.

Another topper, S Sree Charan from Sindhi High School, Hebbal, who has secured 97 per cent, also insists that he will continue in CBSE. Why? It is the IIT again. “My ambition is to be an IITian and I want to pursue aeronautical engineering,” he says.

Aastha Garde from Delhi Public School (North) who has secured 97.8 per cent, also attributes her success to preliminary examinations. “The school pre-boards were extremely helpful, along with my teachers of course,” she says. She too wants to pursue science, and intends to carve out a career in bio-technology.

Her mother, Yukti Garde a General Manager at IBM Daksh, proudly says, “From the time she was a child, she has been a good student and it runs in the family. My husband was an ICSE topper in X and XII th in Gujarat, and I myself was a school topper throughout.”
