Karnataka State Women’s Congress president Lakshmi Hebbalkar on Sunday said that she had tendered resignation to the post on her own and that it was not right to say that she was sacked.

Speaking to reporters in Mudhol, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, also an MLA from Belgaum Rural said, “After I was elected as MLA, I wrote to Women’s Congress national president Sushmita Dev seeking her to appoint someone for the state Mahila Congress top post.”

“In another three months I will complete four years in office. This is just a procedure. I had assured Sushmita Dev that I would prepare at least 20 women for the post before I relinquish it. Accordingly, I have sent as many for interview.” she said

But a section of media is running fabricated stories saying that they have gone to Delhi to complain against me,” Lakshmi Hebbalkar added.

To a specific query, she said her reported tiff with Jarkiholi brothers is a closed chapter.
