Last Updated 14 December 2018, 20:18 IST

The Legislative Council witnessed chaos for a while as opposition members demanded that the Anwar Manipaddy report on the irregularities in the Wakf department be tabled in the House. The government clarified that it had not asked for any such report and that it was the internal work of the department.

Y A Narayanswamy, during the Question Hour, demanded that the Manipaddy report on irregularities be tabled in the House, but the Wakf and Haj Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan refused to answer, stating that the member had not asked for it in the question.

Leader of the Opposition Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the High Court of Karnataka had directed the government to table the report in the House. The report states that 24,000 acres of Wakf lands had been encroached, he said.

Both sides traded charges, which led to chaos. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Krishna Byregowda informed the House that the government did not form the committee, but it was the department which did so.

Khan said that the orders of the court were yet to be received.
