College student found hanging in Raichur

The police will launch a special investigation into the suspicious death of a student of the Navodya Engineering College, whose half-burnt body was found hanging position from a tree on a hillock on April 15 evening.

Following the incident, which occurred behind Manikprabhu Temple, the police arrested one Sudarshan Yadav. The autopsy report is still awaited. Students of the college took out a protest march in Raichur, seeking justice for the victim. “The District Crime Records Bureau and jurisdictional Netaji Nagar police will conduct a special investigation,” Kamal Pant, ADGP (Law and Order), told DH.

Tweeting about the incident, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that Raichur SP has been directed to investigate the incident and initiate stern action against those responsible for the incident.

The police have recovered a death note in which the victim has purportedly written that she took the extreme step as she could not clear exams.

A letter believed to have been written by the victim’s sister being circulated on social media states that the victim had cleared all subjects when the results were out on April 16. The results indicate it is a pre-planned murder. She was forced to write the death note. Yadav and those with him should be hanged.
