In all, six tigers were sighted by the enumerators at Bandipur and Nagarahole tiger reserves on the fifth day of the state-wide tiger census on Friday in the region.

While two tigers were sighted at Bandipur, four tigers were spotted at Nagarahole. The volunteers were disappointed as they could not sight any tiger at Biligiri Ranganabetta.

Speaking to DH, Manikantan, Director, Tiger Project, Nagarahole, said, "One tiger each was spotted at Kallahalli and Mathigodu range and two tigers at D BKuppe range."

Ambadi Madhav, Director, Tiger Project, Bandipur, said that one tiger each was found at Moolehole and Gundre. Besides, two leopards and 25 elephants were spotted.

The census of herbivorous animals, which started on Thursday, continued on Friday. The volunteers were excited to spot deer, bison, elephants and carnivorous animals like leopard and fox. They found pug marks and excreta during the day-long exercise.
