Gusty winds uproot trees in Kalasa

Following gusty winds, many trees have been uprooted in Kalasa. Areca and pepper crops have been lost.

Power transmission has been cut as electricity poles have been damaged after huge trees collapsed on the electricity line.

An electricity wire fell on a moving KSRTC bus on Kalasa-Horanadu Road. The passengers had a narrow escape as the power supply was disrupted at the time of the mishap.

Anegandi-Koove Road connectivity was lost after a tree fell on the road. Villagers cleared the tree to facilitate the movement of vehicles. Road traffic was also affected on Beluru-Mudigere and Chikkalla-Mudigere roads.

Bridges in danger

A bridge built across river Hemavathi at Baggasagodu village has been damaged and one side of the bridge is on the verge of collapse.

Also, the bridge built across Sundekere river faces danger as the land close to the bridge has caved in.

Coffee plants have been damaged in many plantations of the taluk, as huge trees have fallen on them. Areca trees have fallen in Phalguni, Baluru, Banakal, Kundur and Saragodu areas. Plantains have been damaged in Banakal and Kottigehara areas, causing a huge loss to farmers.
