Recovery of water and property tax, rental for commercial complexes and other statutory levies is being followed meticulously, said Town Municipal Council chief officer Muniswamy.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday, the chief officer said that with a view to prevent public approaching the municipal office frequently to obtain khata document for their newly constructed houses, the municipality will despatch the property document to their doorsteps through post.

Document at doorstep

The document is being made available within 15 days of submission of the application. Attributing the water scarcity in the town to erratic power supply, he said that steps have been taken up to ensure water supply to Adarsha Nagar, Maruthi Extension and Hanumanthanagar Extension. He said that the borewells sunk in Agrahara tank contain sufficient water to meet the demand and and six lakh litres of water is being supplied to the town.

Tenders invited

Disclosing that tenders have been called to outsource sanitation maintenance work in the town to private parties, Muniswamy said that the town has been expanding rapidly and the present civic workforce is insufficient to meet the demand. The work would be entrusted to private parties in ten wards on a pilot basis.

Tender process for construction of vegetable market complex has already been completed and the work will commence soon, he said.

The chief officer said that members of Town Municipal Council, staff and public at large were cooperating in ensuring integrated development of the town.
