Pandeshwar massive fire: Major disaster averted

Nearly seven among nine houses in Dhoomappa compound in Pandeshwar were gutted in a massive blaze on Saturday night.

Most of the inmates were not present in the house when fire engulfed the houses. A major disaster was averted as fire personnel rushed to the spot and had succeeded in containing the blaze in quick time.

The blaze would have spread to other houses in the densely populated area if the LPG cylinders were not shifted to a safe location.

Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath who rushed to the spot told DH that alternative temporary arrangements had been made for seven families who had lost their homes to the blaze.
