Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Venkata Rao Nadagouda on Wednesday said that the State government had selected Raichur for a project aimed to grow biological fodder in 15 days.

He was speaking to reporters after his maiden visit to Raichur after taking over charge as a minister.

"It is possible to grow the biological fodder in 15 days. Baskets may be kept in front of and on top of houses for growing the fodder which may be fed to animals," he said.

"The government has selected Raichur on an experimental basis for the project to grow biological fodder in 15 days," Nadagouda added.

"Some staff of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Departments have gone on deputation to other departments. We've asked them to return to their mother departments immediately. There is pressure on me against such instructions. However, I won't yield to the pressure," he said.

The Minister said that the government had taken steps to appoint 500 staff for the Animal Husbandry department.
