Members of Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene took out a silent procession, wearing black badges, condemning the State government’s action over farmers’ suicide, in the city on Saturday.

The procession began from Raitha Sangha district office and passed through the main roads of the city. The protest was held in front of Gandhi statue, opposite City Central Library. The protesters alleged that both State and Central governments had failed to stop farmers’ suicide in Karnataka. They have neither started new irrigation projects nor have completed the pending ones, they added.

Though the country has got independence, the farmers are yet to get in real sense. In order to draw the attention of administration, the protest is staged wearing the black badges, said Raitha Sangha District president M C Basavaraj.

Karnataka Raitha Sangha District Honorary president K K Krishnegowda, Taluk Panchayat president Udde Gowda and others took part in the protest.
