Newly elected KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao said that he has a task to get the Congress ready to face the Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to reporters in Chikkamagaluru on Wednesday, he said, “The Lok Sabha election is nearing. There is a Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the state. At this juncture, I have been assigned with the party’s responsibility.” He expressed confidence in discharging his duty effectively.

“It is an honour that I have been entrusted with the party’s responsibility at this juncture. On the one hand, the coalition government should function smoothly, while on the other hand, I have to organise the party to face the upcoming Lok Sabha polls,” he added.

“My name was in the list of aspirants to the post of KPCC President. After collecting opinion from the state leaders, AICC President Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka in-charge Venugopal have finalised my name. I am neither a senior nor junior. I will take everyone together. An attempt will be made to develop new leadership in districts and taluks,” he said.

Further, Gundu Rao said, “I have been working for the party for the last several years. I have experience as Bengaluru DCC President, Youth Wing President and KPCC Working President. By taking all experiences into account, I will try to organise and strengthen the party by taking the party leaders into confidence.”

He said he had visited Sringeri Temple on account of his wife’s birthday. “When I came out after meeting the Sringeri Seer, AICC General Secretary Venugopal called and informed me of the new assignment. I felt happy about getting a new responsibility on the day of my wife’s birthday.”
