Addressing a press meet in the City recently, the Zilla Panchayat president said that the district is reeling under plethora of problems - drought, water scarcity, irregular power supply - and none of the elected representatives has come to rescue of the people. Farmers, dependent on ground water sources for irrigation have been left in lurch due to irregular power supply. The government is yet to act upon the recommendation of Zilla Panchayat on drought relief work.

“We are in dark as to the findings of the drought assessment team that visited the district,” the Zilla Parishat president lamented.

No district in-charge
Pointing out that there is no in-charge minister for the district, Srinivasan said that majority of the officers reside in Bangalore and are not making honest efforts to redress public grievances. He alleged that neither the elected representatives of the district have made any attempt to ameliorate the plight of the people.
Srinivasan demanded that district in-charge minister be appointed at the earliest and that the minister should interact with elected representatives of the district to resolve the grave problems plaguing the district.
