D K Shivakumar does a U-turn on Anand Singh

Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar had to eat his own words on Friday after meeting Vijayanagar (Hosapete) legislator Anand Singh who is undergoing treatment after being assaulted by Kampli MLA J N Ganesh at a resort recently.

Soon after the news of the assault broke last Sunday, Shivakumar, who was first to react, downplayed and even rubbished the entire incident. “There was no assault. Anand Singh left the resort to attend a wedding in Mumbai,” he had told reporters.

On Saturday, Shivakumar said, “He (Singh) has been injured badly. He is stable but will take time to recover.”

Shivakumar ruled out that he was trying for a patch-up between Singh and Ganesh. Ganesh is absconding and the police are on the lookout for him.
