Yadgir police arrested a private medical practitioner and two of his associates for assaulting a judge on a bus on Sunday.

Police said that argument over offering a seat to an elderly woman in a KSRTC bus led to the assault.

Police added the Surapur doctor and the Raichur Civil Court judge were travelling on Sunday night from Kalaburagi to Bengaluru by bus.

The judge appealed to the doctor to vacate his seat for an elderly woman passenger. The doctor has refused and an argument ensued in which the doctor has allegedly threatened the judge, called his associates on the phone and provoked them to assault the judge.

Meanwhile, the judge called his colleague Surapur Civil judge B N Amarnath and informed him of the incident. Judge Amarnath called the police control room and was waiting there for the bus to arrive in Surapur.

The police arrested the Surapur doctor and two of his associates as soon at the bus arrived at the stand.

Yadgir Superintendent of Police Iada Martin Marbaniang told DH that the complaint was registered at the Surpur town police station and investigations are on.
