<p>JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda turned emotional while speaking about the BJP’s continued attacks against his son and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s loan waiver scheme.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“Kumaraswamy has only one son... and he has sworn on him that he will waive all loans taken by farmers. Why would he do that? People should understand his intentions,” a teary-eyed Gowda said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Kumaraswamy said if his party was elected to power independently, he would make Karnataka the “No. 1” state in the country.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“If I fail to develop Karnataka as the No. 1 state, I will bring down the shutters of the JD(S) office. Why can’t I be given five years? There is an impression that my government is only pro-farmer. But the government’s contributions to Bengaluru are never highlighted. In mere seven months, the government has sanctioned Rs 88,000 crore for projects including the suburban rail, peripheral ring road and elevated corridor,” he said.</p>
