Experts tips to crack IIT-JEE

The examination, to be held in two sessions of three hours’ duration each, will mainly test a student’s composure and the ability to get best of what he/she knows, experts say.

The entrance test will have two question papers consisting of three separate sections on chemistry, physics and mathematics. Paper I will be held from 9 am to noon whereas Paper II is scheduled from 2 to 5 pm.

The questions will be of objective type, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates. While some sections will have negative marking for wrong answers, for a few others marks will not be deducted if answers are incorrect.

Answer for each question should be recorded on a separate, specially designed, machine-gradable sheet of paper ORS (Optical Response Sheet) with a hard black (HB) pencil only.

Easy Qs first

H S Nagaraja, Founder Director of Base, a coaching centre in the City, says students should answer easy questions first to gain confidence. Seeing that many students do not answer in sequence, Nagaraja says they should be careful while marking the answer.

Remember this

Dos:

*Attempt easy questions first. Choose sections that have less risk and more gain
*Double check before marking the bubble
*Carefully read the entire question paper in the first 10 minutes

Don'ts:

*Don't pick what you don't know
*Don't get upset if any section is tough. You can score in other sections
*IIT-JEE will be held at six centres in Bangalore: National College, Basavanagudi, BMS College of Engineering, Bull Temple Road, MES College, MES Kishore Kendra, both Malleswaram, Army Public School, Kamaraj Road and St Joseph's Arts College.
It will also be held in various centres in Mysore, Mangalore and Belgaum
