Heavy rain lashes Belur, Periyapatna

Moderate to heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed parts of all the three districts on Monday.

The roof of four houses were blown away due to heavy rains, accompanied by gusty winds, in Hassan taluk, on Monday evening.

Belur town and surrounding areas received heavy rains for more than an hour. Rainwater entered the houses in low-lying areas. The temple road in the town was waterlogged making it unmotorable.

Hassan city too received a good spell of rain at 5 pm. Rains with gusty winds was reported in Shantigrama, Seege, Veerapura, Mosalehoshalli, Puradamma and Sakleshpur regions. A huge tree was uprooted at Kanathuru village, in Alur taluk, disrupting vehicular traffic.

Periyapatna taluk in Mysuru district received heavy rains, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Trees and electric poles were uprooted at Hunasekuppe, Parekoppalu, Chowkuru and other villages. Water entered houses at Shivappa Layout and Parisara Nagar. The premises of DPBS government school in the town was waterlogged.

Parts of Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagar district, received rains for more than an hour. Trees and electricity poles were uprooted at some villages.

Napoklu in Kodagu district received heavy rain on Monday evening. There were reports of heavy rains in Chettalli, Talacauvery and Bhagamandala as well.
