A portion of the Agumbe ghat road that connects Shivamogga district with Udupi, collapsed near the seventh cross due to heavy rain that lashed the region on Thursday.
The region has received heavy rains over the last two days.
Public Works Department officers and police, rushed to the spot and banned heavy vehicular traffic on the route. The movement of light vehicles, however, has continued.
Following heavy rainfall, the district administration declared a holiday for educational institutes in Thirthahalli taluk.
