Heavy rains flood many city roads

The sky that was cloudy in the morning opened  up in the afternoon and the City experienced heavy rains till late in the night. The torrential rains that began from 3 pm continued to batter the City till late night recording 33 mm rainfall.

According to the Meteorology Department, a depression over the Bay of Bengal near the coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha has brought rains in the region. It has predicted cloudy weather on Friday with rains and thunder showers at some isolated places.

Due to rains life was thrown out of gear and aggravated the traffic woes in the City. Many areas witnessed water-logging, while seven trees came crashing down. However, no loss of properties or human life was reported.

Water-logging was reported for a short while near Richmond Hotel, Sudama Nagar, near Lalbagh, Koramangala, near Forum Mall, Garuda Mall and Kadugodi. Tree-fall was reported at Basavanagudi, South End Circle, Jayanagar East End, Koramangala, BEML Thippasandra, Jayanagara near Amarawathi Hotel and JP Nagar 5th Phase.

There was traffic jam on Richmond Flyover owing to water-logging near Lalbagh and travellers, who were stranded on the flyover, had a harrowing time. Traffic congestion was reported in many parts of the city.
