'If God should care for everything, why have CM?'

'If God should care for everything, why have CM?'

Taking a jibe at H D Kumaraswamy's "temple run", senior BJP leader Jagadish Shettar asked the JD(S) leader on Saturday the need to have a chief minister if God would take care of all the problems being faced by the people of Karnataka.

He also charged that Kumaraswamy was discriminating even in his temple run, to save his government, as he is visiting only temples and Mutts in south Karnataka while neglecting the ones in the north.

"We are not against his temple visits, but what we are opposed to is his temple visit at the cost of governance. There should be a limit to everything. If God was to take care of all the problems faced by the state, then what is the need for a chief minister?" asked Shettar.

Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, Shettar said if the chief minister had come to north Karnataka, he would have realised the prevailing drought situation there.

"More than 86 taluks in the state are reeling under drought yet the state government is not in a position to release funds to tackle it. The government could not even manage the floods. Every time we demand a white paper on the state's financial condition, the CM trivialises the issue by stating that he would release a saffron paper," Shettar said

Shifting departments

Shettar said the BJP has no problem with the government holding ruling party MLAs meeting in Hassan, but is worried about not shifting certain departments to Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi.

It has been one month since the CM's announcement but so far no action has been taken in this regard.

Revolt comment

Regarding Kumaraswamy's recent comment asking people to revolt against the BJP, Shettar said the party has asked Governor Vajubhai Vala to take appropriate legal action.
