IIT JEE slated for April 10

Test to be held all over India and in Dubai

The score is used for admission to fifteen IITs located  in Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Mandi, Mumbai, Patna, Ropar and Roorkee.

Close to 4,55,571 candidates appeared for the test conducted last year. Out of this only 2,619 students coming under the IIT Madras zone qualified for admissions to the premier engineering institutes.

The IIT Madras zone, of which Bangalore is a part, had the second-largest number of students who have qualified to enter the IITs last year.

This year, the entrance examination will be held in all major Indian cities as well as Dubai. Besides IITs, the score of the entrance examination is also accepted by Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU) Varanasi and Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad, which are the oldest technical institutions in the country.

Candidates can apply for JEE either ‘on-line’ or ‘off-line.’ They can apply for the exam by logging on to the official website of the entrance examination. The sale of the offline application forms and information brochures has already started at the designated branches of the banks.

The vouchers will be available only till December 15. The candidates can also check their application status by logging in using the user ID and password given to them.
The last date for receipt of duly filled application forms is December 20.

The application forms are available at the Indian Bank branches in Jaya Nagar and Malleswaram in Bangalore.

Test pattern

The entrance examination comprises of two question papers, each of three hour duration. Both the question papers will consist of three separate sections on Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. They will be of objective type, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.

Age limit

For GE and OBC categories, only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 1, 1986 are eligible to appear in JEE-2011. SC, ST, and PD candidates who are born on or after October 1, 1981 are eligible to appear in JEE-2011.

Candidates belonging to GE and OBC categories must secure at least 60 pc marks in aggregate in their QE. SC, ST and PD candidates must secure at least 55 pc marks in aggregate in their QE.
