The inflow of water from Maharashtra into the river Krishna and its tributaries continued to recede for the second consecutive day on Monday, allaying fears of floods along the banks of the rivers in Belagavi.

Rainfall in the Western Ghats in Maharashtra and the catchment areas of the river Krishna and its tributaries diminished on Monday. This has come as a welcome respite after heavy rains lashed that region continuously for weeks.

However, despite the inflow receding, Krishna and its tributaries are still flowing above the danger mark.

Low-lying bridges in Chikkodi and Athani taluks; and the Kuduchi bridge in Raibag taluk, continue to remain underwater.

Water inflow into river Krishna from Maharashtra reduced to 1.51 lakh cusecs.

Inflow from Rajapur barrage into Krishna was 1.27 lakh cusecs and from river Doodhganga 24,288 cusecs.

Inflow into Hipparagi barrage is 1.63 lakh cusecs and outflow 1.62 lakh cusecs.
