It's inevitable for coalition to go forward: GTD

Higher Education Minister G T Devegowda has said that it was inevitable for the coalition partners - Congress and JD(S) - to take the alliance government forward. He expressed the hope that leaders of both the parties would not let the government fall.

Devegowda was speaking to reporters after taking part in the 20th foundation day programme of Visvesvaraya Technological University in Belagavi on Friday. He said that since the BJP attempted to made India free from Congress, the grand old party extended unconditional support to JD(S) to form the coalition government. “The alliance is strong,” he added.

He rejected the allegations that former chief minister Siddaramaiah was preventing Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy from presenting the budget. “Siddaramaiah has never opposed the budget presentation. He has also consented for the farm loan waiver,” he added. The minister said that a few disgruntled leaders belonging to JD(S) and Congress were creating problems since they had been denied a Cabinet berth.

Replying to a query, Devegowda, said he did not defeat Siddaramaiah in Chamundeshwari Assembly Constituency on his own. “Siddaramaiah set out to wage a war against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and got defeated,” he remarked.
