I've instructed DCs to tackle rain emergencies: CM

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday said he had directed respective deputy commissioners to take immediate measures to address the problems that arise out of the rain and heavy discharge of water from the dams.

Speaking to reporters here, the chief minister said, There is no dearth of funds for taking up relief works in the rain-affected areas in the state. The government has directed the deputy commissioners to maintain a minimum of Rs 5 crore in their account for addressing rain woes."

The government has already released Rs 20 crore of RS 100 crore announced in the first phase for Kodagu district, he said and added that the administration would take necessary measures to tackle rain-related emergencies without violating the model code of conduct, which is in force in view of ULB polls.

To a query on zero-budget natural farming, Kumaraswamy said, the zero-budget natural farming practice, being implemented in Andhra Pradesh, will be introduced in the state. In Andhra, Azim Premji Foundation has taken a lead in zero budget natural farming, and nearly six lakh farmers are working with the foundation. Azim Premji has assured his support in implementing the said farm practice in the state."
