Kannadigas prefer to find their partners on their own, even if it means marrying non-Kannadigas, reveals a survey.

As per the data shared by matrimonial listing website Matrimony.com with DH, 60% of the profiles registered on the site are by the individuals themselves looking for partners. Moreover, a significant percentage of Kannadigas are open to marrying outside the state -- 67% and 64% for female and male respectively. Only 23% of women and 26% men state that they want to find a match only in Karnataka, reveals the study.

The trend is curated from their existing users, comprising of over 2 lakh profiles from Karnataka.

The top five cities that witnessed maximum number of registrations on platform are Bengaluru, Mysuru, Belagavi, Tumakuru and Hubballi. For Kannadigas living outside Karnataka, the top cities with the highest number of registrations were Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the survey revealed.

Outside India, the top five countries that witnessed maximum number of registrations for prospective Kannadiga grooms and brides are the USA, Australia, UAE, the UK and Germany. The user base comprised of 30% female registrants and 70% males.

Out of these, 44% of female users who are seeking a life partner, are between the ages of 24 and 27 years, while 37% of men are in the age group of 26 and 29.

The top profession listed by men who have registered on the website is “entrepreneur” followed by “software professional”, representing IT and startup prowess of the state.

In terms of educational qualification for females, 28% were engineers, 23% had an Arts/Science/Commerce degree, 6% had a management degree, and for males, it was 22%, 26% and 4% respectively.

In tune with the mobile and internet trends, 77% of girls registered using app/mobile WAP and 22% used desktop, while for men it was 87% and 12% respectively. “In the last 18 years KannadaMatrimony has earned the trust of millions of Kannada speaking people worldwide and has become the No. 1 choice when it comes to finding a life partner.
